At Walla Walla Naturopathic you can expect your doctor to do some or all of the following:
Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease. It addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease.
Functional medicine integrates traditional Western medical practices with what is sometimes considered “alternative” or “integrative” medicine, creating a focus on prevention through nutrition, diet, and exercise; use of the latest laboratory testing and other diagnostic techniques; and prescribed combinations of drugs and/or botanical medicines, supplements, therapeutic diets, detoxification programs, or stress-management techniques.
More and more, people are finding they are reacting to the foods they are eating. At Walla Walla Naturopathic, your practitioner can help you identify food sensitivities either through blood testing or a guided elimination and challenge diet. This can be very helpful in identifying food triggers to digestive issues, chronic skin rashes, headaches, and general inflammation. Please be aware that the test we offer does NOT determine anaphylactic types of allergies, but food sensitivities that present as chronic conditions or delayed-onset reactions.
Many people experience symptoms of hormone imbalance at some point in their lives. These symptoms can range from pre-menstrual syndrome to menopausal hot flushes. There are many ways to optimize hormone balance including diet and exercise modification, herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.
Sadly, we live in a what is becoming more and more a toxic world. Luckily, our bodies typically do an amazing job tolerating and clearing those toxins. Sometimes though, the toxic load becomes to great, or some individuals are more susceptible to the negative effects of toxins. At WWN, we can help you identify your toxic exposures, educate you on how to avoid them, and help rid your body of the toxic build up.
It is with some sadness that I write to let you know that Walla Walla Naturopathic will be closing
after thirteen years. I am sorry to say that the Covid-19 virus has pushed an earlier retirement
than I would have liked.
It has been my honor and privilege to have served you and your family these many years. I have
been inspired by each and every one of you. I want to encourage and support your ongoing quest
for health and happiness and I wish you all of the best in that pursuit.
I will be posting on Facebook information and tips on how to improve and maintain immune
health during this challenging time. I hope that will be of value to you.
Information You Need:
I am able to make refills for you through May 30, 2020 after which time WWN will be closed.
For transfer of care I recommend Dr. Barton Moore and Tyler Christiansen at the Total Care
Clinic for those of you who need ongoing prescriptions. Dr. Julie Figgins is welcoming new
patients who do not require prescriptions and are looking for naturopathic lifestyle care. Dr.'s
Olswanger and Haugen are great primary care physicians. I have heard that there will be new
naturopaths coming to Walla Walla in the future.
I will maintain your records for seven years after the date of our last visit and these records are
available to you. I have shared your labs with most of you and can do that upon request at any
time. If you transition care I will need a signed records request to transfer your records to another
provider. I will put a form for this in the Charm Portal but the new provider will be able to
facilitate this for you.
FullScript accounts will remain active indefinitely so you can access your supplements which I
think is especially important during this time.
For the future I will be developing an online cash based practice called Functional Medicine
Solutions PLLC. This will have a specialty focus on autoimmune conditions and immune
enhancement as well as advanced testing methods for chronic complex disease.
In Health and Gratitude,
Dr. Melissa McClintock
